Wow! 8 already! Where did the time go? It seems like yesterday that Daddy delivered you!

I am such a baby!
Today I bought a Accu-Chek Aviva blood glucose monitor. You get in the pack: A carry case, a monitor with LCD displaya some test strips, some lancets and the finger pricker pen thing. Okay, so it is meant for someone with Diabetes, I know that, but I figured it would be a good idea to keep a check on your blood sugars. I mean it can't hurt. And the best bit, it was on a price crash and was just £4.
So we get home and I make DH be the 'tester'. We messed up and first but before long he had pricked his finger and after wasting a couple test strips, had his reading back. So then it was my turn. And I couldn't do it. LOL! I couldn't press the button knowing it would prick my finger. I was trying to be grown up but I couldn't! DH was like 'You go give blood but won't prick your finger'. He found it quite amusing watching me dance around the kitchen yelling 'No!!! I can't!!!!'
In the end he did it for me. I warned him not to hurt me. I said I would prick him somewhere nasty if he did.
I feel soooooo brave! *giggle* and my result was normal.

My card & the honey pot.
What an odd title you are likely to be thinking! Let me explain...
First: My card
My card came from the NHS today. It is the same style & size as a debit card, but it is red and has the blood donor logo on it. It states my name, donor number and my blood group. Once I have donated 4 times I will 'earn' a blue card. It continues to go up in stages.
I always knew I had a rare blood type ~ O neg, but I never really realised just how good it is. LOL! If I were to need blood, I wold HAVE to have O neg. If an A+/- needed blood, again, they would need their own type. Same with the B's and the AB's etc. The thing is though, my blood can be given to anyone. Regardless of their blood type, they can safely recieve O neg. Which makes my blood group extra special ~ because in an emergency, when there is no time to establish a persons blood group, they will be given O neg. So accidents involving any type of serious bleeding would be when my blood group would be called for.
The Honeypot.
Why am I so soppy? People think that I am strong and sensible and logical. But deep inside, I am as soft as butter. Today I got all upset because of the honeypot register in Nursery. Every morning I go into Nursery with Christopher and watch as he drags his 'bee' name into Pooh's honeypot. It is a self registration thing they do. And today I thought how close it is to him leaving Nursery. How before long I will be watching him put his name in the pot for the very last time. And I got all upset.
I never would have guessed how happy he would have been in Nursery, or how easy he would have settled. But he has. And it will soon be over. Such a big stage of his life will soon be over forever. And that is pretty hard to deal with.
I can't believe that little boy who I used to sit with in the Nursery on those first few days, who I would stand outside the gates worrying about when I first left him alone there, who I saw cry at the Christmas play, will soon be starting proper school. My baby is growing up :*(
They will be having a 'Graduation party' at nursery at the end of term. That will be hard too :(

Thinking that maybe...
Friday 13th came a day early for me? For starters, my ISP has a regional fault. Hence the reason this is not posted on the 12th as intended. Now those of you who know me well know that I am not good without internet.
Then DH came in from work saying that someone has dented Matt's car (he is away on holiday with Lucy). And as we are moaning about that it happenned.....:(
Squirrel was upstairs. He managed to climb and little way up the stair gate, lean right over and then fall all the way down the stairs. Al we heard was a huge thud folllowed by the obvious sound of something (or in this case 'someone') falling down the stairs. He laid in a heap at the bottom, screaming like crazy. We picked him up and loved him, but his screaming was getting worse if anything. We checked him over for any signs of damage, but none was visable. We went out in the garden with him (he loves being outside) but his screaming continued.
Anyway, much love later he calmed down and despite being terribly pale, seemed okay. He ate all his dinner and soon the colour came back to his cheeks and he returned to his cheeky self. But boy what a fright!
Some random pics from our play in the garden today :)
Painted my nails for my new summer shoes :)

Happy Birthday to me :)
Today was nice. Had Breakfast with Mum & Trevor and then I went up in the balloon...
But today was also a sad day. I missed my nan so much. And not because of her card and present. That never really entered my mind. Because of her singing telephone call ~ that I always got first thing in the morning, for as long as I can remember.
I found myself checking my phone for a missed call. It was quite odd. I mean I know there wouldn't be one from her, but I still couldn't help but check, over & over. See other days when she would normally have called, my mind could act like she was busy, or on holiday. But today, today is the day that no matter where she was or what she was doing, she WOULD have called.
Okay so I am not making sense ~ but I know what I am trying to say, it just isn't coming out right.
Basically, I miss her. And today I am missing her even more. And right now it doesn't seem fair :(

And the total is in....
Copied & pasted from The Big Midnight walk email:
What a night!!!
Well we did it! after 6 months of careful preparation the Big Midnight Walk was an amazing success!
An enormous well done to each and everyone of you, no doubt you are nursing sore feet and aching limbs but I hope you all thought it was truly worth it. The night was just incredible, it ranged from manic to emotional to truly inspirational. You should all be very, very proud of yourselves.
We are so pleased to announce that the total pledged on the night has hit a a staggering £179,000! There is no other word to describe it but AWESOME!
This was only made possible by the amazing support of South Devon, from our sponsors, to our supporters, volunteers and of course you! We are so pleased to say that 100% of the money you have raised will go to the charities.

The morning after....
and dear lord I feel rough. I ache in places I never knew existed. My poor feet are a mess. I have big blisters on the bottoms of my feet which makes for not so nice standing/walking. My legs feel like they have been hit by a bus. And to top it all my head kills, my throat is sore and my nose blocked. And I am tired.
Now if you can stop laughing for a second ~ I will tell you about the walk. :)
When we arrived we had to do a warm up. Warm up?! I was tired after that! Felt more like a full workout LMAO! And my Mum really got into it and managed to give herself a nasty bruise in her enthusiasm. Then we collected our wrist band and goodybag and off we went. I was puffed within 15 mins when we hit our first lot of steps/hill. Maybe not a good sign and the moment where you realise them telling you to train for it was probably wise. Walking along the seafront in Paignton was good. Level and pretty. And remember we had that lovely goodybag with some scrummy chocolate in it! The worse point for me was after we had got to Torquay seafront and hit the bottom by the harbour. That hill up to the imperial hotel was a killer. Anyone got a hoist?!!!! And the home stretch was nasty too, as by that time my body (especially those feet) were yelling 'Time Out'.
But we did it. And at this point in time don't I know it!!! Pics to follow!

All went well...
with my first donation. I am left with a bruise but that is all. I just sat through it thinking of Nan and all what she went through. And I hope she is proud that I am doing this as a way of saying Thanks to all those who donated and helped her.
I hope I can do this for many years to come...
