Happy Birthday!

First of all Happy Birthday! to my Mum. Birthday! Birthday! Today is her special day and she deserves a super day as she is a super person. We are going out for a meal tonight. Can't wait to see her and sing to her.....LOL!

Christopher went to school without any tears. He looked a little sad as I left but no tears. I just hope he has another good day.

Guess what?!

He didn't cry today!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he stayed all day! He ate all his packed lunch and his teacher said he had been 'fantastic'.

As I left his eyes got a little wet so he wiped them with his sleeve. His teacher said that didn't count as crying because she never saw any tears.

I have decided...

I will let him stay.

I asked him if he was taking a packed lunch to school on Monday and he said Yes and then told me what he would like in it. I explained he wopuld be in the canteen with the other children and he agreed.

However, I will give him a few days to settle, and if it is really upsetting him I will bring him home for lunch and take him back after. That way it breaks up the time he he goes without seeing me ~ but he is not missing out on any learning time. Obviously it will be better if he settles and stays for lunch but I feel better having a plan in my mind. And if he does end up coming home for lunch I will then try him again after Christmas with a packed lunch.

What should I do?

Today when I picked him up his teacher said he did so much better. He didn't even cry at PE time.

On Monday he should be starting full days. So at 12 he will go to the canteen with a packed lunch and then play in the playground before going back to class for 2 hours more learning. In total he will stay for an additional 3 hours.

Part of me thinks this is too long. So I arranged that he will stay just till 12 again (unless I change my mind before then) and that he will start full days the following week. Just to give him that little extra time to settle in.

The problem is, he will be athe only one not staying all day. Even the other child who cries like him will be staying. And I am wondering if maybe I am not helping him by making him the odd one out. And the following week when they are all used to staying all day he will be the only way who is doing it for the first time.

Arggggghhhhh! I feel sooooooooooo confused!

More tears...

He said it is because I am gone too long and he misses me so much. He is currently going from 8.45 till 12. Next week he is expected to do 8.45 till 3.10. Can you imagine that? I am asking for another half day week for him.

On a totally different subject ~ just wanted to say how sad I am that 4 babies so far have died from the milk contamination problem. And I think last I heard 14,000 are still in hospital. Such a terrible story :(

He tried soooooooooo hard...

but those little tears just couldn't help but pop out. He did sooooo much better then the previous day. He tried so hard to be brave. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Another bit of news. Yesterday evening someone driving a white car hit Carl's car and drove off. 2 neighbours saw and 1 managed to jot down the first half of the reg. We have an idea who it was but are waiting to see the car come back before we say anything.

Time for a change!

Hope my spooky layout didn't scare you! LOL! A little early for Halloween maybe but it is just over 4 weeks away!

Getting worse...

I was really hoping that by day 3 he would be getting used to the idea of school. But he is getting worse. He was sobbing before we even got out the car today. I started talking to him and got him giggling as we walked up the path, but the tears soon returned before we got in the classroom. He was in a terrible state at the table today, saying all kinds of random stuff in the hope that I would turn around and take him home. Such as: I am starving (He had eaten a big breakfast this morning) . My arms are killing me. I can't move. Everybody hurts me....etc. In the end I gave up trying to comfort and reason with him and told him 'I am going to kiss you now and then I am going'. Which is just what I did.

I could hear him sobbing as I left. I just hope day 4 is a little better. *sigh*

Day 2...

and he cried.....LOTS.

He kept saying he didn't want to go to school again, and he cried a little before we even left home, saying that the tears just came out and he didn't want them to.

He was 'okayish' as we walked up the drive, and as we got near to his classroom he asked me if I was going to make him go to the same place. What he meant was sitting at the green table, to do whatever activity is there waiting. I explained to him that he is in the green group so has to sit wherever his name is. I have no control over it. We put his things on his peg and I took him to his table (he had gluing to do today) and he started to cry. Actually, he was sobbing into my shoulder. I was trying to make him feel better, telling him how much fun he would have sticking his fish picture together. I told him Squirrel would love it if he made it for him. Heck I even told him I would 'buy' it off of him once he brought it home. But nothing worked. He sobbed...

His teacher came across and said 'Oh Christopher. Sweetheart.' His crying got louder. I gave him a kiss and cuddle, told him I would be back at lunchtime and for him to try to have fun. And I walked out. I could hear his sobs as I left the room.

He's Home!!!

I am pleased to say that he is home where he belongs. We sure did miss each other.

As the children came out, Mrs Mitchell said things like: 'He has been fine' or 'She has had lots of fun'. When Furry came out she said 'He has been sad, but we worked our way through it'.

Awwww. My poor boy.

He told me that he cried because it was all 'junk'. He showed me his reading book and then read it to me ~ looking all confused that there was only 6 pages. He then said that it was 'junk' and 'stupid' to have hardly any words in it.

After a little while he said it actually 'was quite fun'...

I wonder how he will go off tomorrow morning?

Amanda x x

Good Luck Sweetheart...

My little boy is at school sad

He was agreeing with everything I said all morning. Yes he would talk to his teacher. Yes he would read to her. No he wouldn't cry. Yes he knew I would be back for him at lunchtime. Even when we were waiting at school in the car he was singing and smiling. Then we got out the car...

Suddenly he turned into quiet, scared Christopher, holding my hand tightly as we walked up the path to school. Telling me that lunchtime was too long to wait for me. And when we went into the class and found his table (he is in Green House like Lewis) we didn't want to sit down and take a pencil. I told him I would see him at lunchtime, and gave him a kiss. Tears started to fill his eyes but he was brave and held them in. One quick cuddle and I made a quick escape. I didn't look back. I didn't want to see if he was crying.

Now Squirrel is sleeping, and I am sitting here hoping he is okay. Hoping he isn't crying. And counting down the time until I can 'rescue' him. Just 2 hours and 20 mins.

Here he is this morning (we went to let Nanny Bibo 'see' him on his first day of school...

First day of school...

I will write more once he is home ~ and let you know how he got on...

Organising...

I have started to add more 'tags' or 'labels' to my posts, making them easier to find if you (or me!) are looking for something. So from now on you will see a 'tag' on every post. And there will be links further down, over there -> showing you the different 'tags'. New ones may pop up every now and then, if I am writing something and feel it needs a new 'tag'.

Remembering my Dad today...

on his birthday.

So many years have passed since we lost him. I would love to be able to see him again, to sit and talk. There is so much I would love to tell him. And so many things I would love to hear his views on. I would love to see what he makes on all the changes around here. I mean in Torquay in general. Roads built, small shops closing, so many new homes. He was very opinionated. I would love to sit and listen to what he had to say if he could come back for a day. What would he make of the computer? And even more of the Internet?

I would love for him to meet my boys. He only ever got to meet Matt, and he worshipped him. I wonder what he would have made of my other boys. Would he be proud of them ~ like I am? I know his heart would break at the times Matt has been ill will his Asthma. I remember the Christmas Day that Matt ended up in the hospital. As I sat by his bedside while he slept I knew how hard Dad would have found that to see.

So today I am sitting, listening to 'Funny Face' and 'I will love you all my life' and remembering years gone by.

Just for a giggle...

This was sent to me in an email today and I couldn't resist but share it!!

A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room waiting for the doctor to come in for the baby's first exam.

The doctor arrived and examined the baby, checked his weight, and being a little concerned csked if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed.

'Breast-fed,' she replied.

'Well, strip down to your waist,' the doctor ordered.

She did.

He pinched her nipples, pressed, kneaded and rubbed both breasts for a while in a very professional and detailed examination. Motioning to her to get dressed the doctor said, 'No wonder this baby is underweight. You don't have any milk.'

'I know,' she said, 'I'm his Grandma, But I'm glad I came.'

Vodafone Mobile Broadband...

So you have seen to adverts (if you are in the UK) offering (and I quote): fast and affordable laptop internet access. Get superfast and reliable internet access when you’re out and about. Hmmmm.....anyone been tempted? If you have DON'T BOTHER!!!! Seriously. It SUCKS! And it is getting WORSE not better.

Now you want to know the story don't you? Okay. About 5 months ago my Mum signed up to a 2 year contract, offering her this super broadband, up to 10 megs a second, for her laptop. Super! Only on first using it, it was offering her a pretty pathetic DL speed. But it was usable. Just. She had a green light on the modem. meaning it was the poorest of the 3 possible signal receptions. At my house it went to the best. Light blue. But it still wasn't anything like the speed they advertise. Anyway. Yesterday she brought her laptop around as she was having some issues. I connected it through our wireless internet, and everthing was working fine. I couldn't really understand what she was complaining about. The pictures looked great, and I could see them all where she was having problems getting them to 'work'. Well our internet is 20 megs so I thought it only fair to use her modem and see how that worked.

Well! What can I say? first of all, when the page (my blog) eventually loaded, the images looked terrible. Really poor. Then we realised why. My 192kb file had been compressed to just 16kbs. Vodafone use an image compressor to get a quicker service. Never mind that it makes everything look total crud. But that is not the worst part. The worst part is that after getting lots of little red 'x's instead of images (I think it just too too long) we did a speed test. Now I know anyone who has actually made it this far are excited to know the result. I will tell you.... after the break!

.

LMAO! No seriously. It was DL'ing at the incredible speed of.....20kbs. Yep! Worse then dial up!

After a nice little call to them, they agreed that she had been mis-sold the contract ~ as the service is bad unless you live in London.... and said they would allow her to end the contract now. Oh and where we had the light blue at our house a few months ago, we now were getting a green light. So like I previously said, the service has in fact got worse.

This is how the pic looks at it's proper size:

and here it is at the size Vodafone compress it to:

And remember, they do this to ALL images.

Beautiful morning (and a new siggy)

First of all, this morning after dropping Lew to school, I headed out to the cemetery to make sure all was nice and tidy for Nan. It was so beautiful up there. It was 8.30 and no-one else was around. The sun was shining brightly and all you could hear was the birds singing away. It felt so peaceful. I could have stayed there for hours. And as I turned to leave, a white feather floated down and landed at my feet.

I went and got some pancakes for Christopher as soon as I left. I handed over £10 and got 4 £2 coins in my change. It sure felt like Nan was saying Hi to me today...

And finally, my new siggy:

It has been 4 days since my last post, so thought I should pop in and say Hiso you all know I am still alive.

DH had Tues & weds off work. Tuesday we went out for lunch. Wednesday we went to Plymouth. Got Lewis & Christopher a nice pink jumper each. Yes I did say Pink and Nice in the same sentence! Adam said it was 'disgusting' but Lewis liked it. And girls wear blue so why can't boys wear pink?

Happy Birthday, School Visit, Drs & the Dentist...

Yep! Been a busy day!

First of all Happy Birthday! to my big sister. Birthday! Birthday!

Squirrel was still being sick so he had a Drs appt today. Gotta send in a sample if he is still not well on Monday. He did actually eat all his dinner tonight which is the first time in over a week. So that is cool!

I had an appointment at school today with Christopher to meet his teachers. As soon as she saw me she asked how Adam was getting on, which was sweet seeing he left her class over 7 years ago! The TA asked if 'Little Lewis' was my son as he looked a lot like Christopher. I explained to them how shy & quiet Christopher is. I feel better knowing that they know what to expect.

Today was also dentist day for Adam & Lewis. Adam was fine ~ due another hospital appt in December. Hopefully things will start moving for him then. Lewis had an abcess under one of his teeth. Although he hasn't had any problems with it he said it will give him toothache if let for a couple more days, so he drilled the tooth and drained the infection. Lewis was such a brave little fella! He also has an xray as he hasn't enough room for some big teeth that are coming through. In order for them to come out straight, which they appear to be on the xray, he has to have some haelthy milk teeth out ~ to make room for them. So I am waiting for an hospital appt for him. He will be put to sleep for it ~ and have 4 teeth removed. Everything the dentist was saying he would then ask Lewis 'Are you okay with that'. Lewis kept replying 'Yes. But I am not sure about you drilling my molar you know'. It was so cute ~ bless him! November 5th Christopher & Squirrel will have their first dentist appointment!

So there you have it. My wonderful day! Thank goodness it is Friday and I can stay in bed in the morning. These early starts aren't agreeing with me!

Back to School for Lewis...

He got up and dressed with no fuss this morning ~ all excited to get back to school and see his friends. Those who know Lewis know he is not one to get up and dressed in the mornings. I took a couple pics on my phone when we got to school. Here he is:

First day back to school

Sorry the quality isn't all that great ~ but like I say I took it on my phone. But while on the subject of phones, I have a new one and a new number. So if you haven't already had a text from me with my new number, drop me an email and I will text you with it.

Squirrel has a lot more colour in his cheeks today. Hopefully he is well on the way to being back to normal..

Went to Subway...

for lunch yesterday. All the tables were taken except the one we had. Squirrel took one bite of his food and was sick everywhere. He was covered, the floor was covered... well you get the picture right? It was not a pretty sight! No-one offered us a cloth or anything to clean up with ~ so we had to use paper napkins (a lot of!) to clean up with. The place kind of emptied pretty quickly. Not sure why???

Adam goes back to school...

And Squirrel misses him terribly. He kept calling for his 'Add' and was very grumpy and clingy. We went to the park to try and cheer him up..

He sat playing with his car (He LOVES little toy cars)

Where's Add?

Where is Add Mummy?

He was all happy when he finally got to see his brother again, and then fell asleep!

September already...

can you believe that? It really seems like a couple weeks ago I was posting to say about the boys last day of school and here we are ready to go back. Adam starts tomorrow and Lewis goes back on Thursday. Friday I go with Christopher to meet his teacher but he will not start until 22nd September because he is one of the youngest ones.

So today is one of those days where we get all the new uniforms out, make sure everything is labeled properly etc etc....

Oh and we are feeling much better today. Yesterday was a bad day but today is seeming brighter. Hopefully by tomorrow everyone will be back to their usual selves.
